Join the North Bay Celiacs Team May 7

Sonoma County Human Race

We hope you enjoy the community services provided by North Bay Celiacs. This is an opportunity to express your appreciation and join in some fun. North Bay Celiacs will participate in the 2011 Sonoma County Human Race, a nonprofit community fundraiser organized by the Volunteer Center of Sonoma County.
Thanks to generous community donations in last year’s race, we have been able to continue our free community services: support groups in four North Bay counties; physician and dietitian education at local hospitals; gluten-free consultations to food purveyors; and maintaining a website that serves as an information center for the celiac and gluten-intolerance community in the greater Bay Area. We also provide support to Camp Celiac (www.celiaccamp.com).
North Bay Celiacs would love to count on your support in this year’s Human Race! The race, which will take place on May 7th, is our sole fundraiser and source of income. Our goal again this year is $3,000. It’s a modest goal for an organization serving this large geographical area, but North Bay Celiacs is run entirely by volunteers. Here's how to help:

Just Another Saturday

The folsom annual garage sale has been an event on my calendar for the past few years- a huge 175+ home garage sale- and this year I attended with my husband. A 5am wake up is worth it for all the possible deals and finds. We had our list of "hope to finds" and one of those items was a gliding rocking chair for my best friend who is due in only a couple of days. Mike and I had to fight off some other pregnant women for it, but we managed to fit it into the back of our compact car. And what a steal of a deal!!!

Of course, once the glider was in the car, the 4ft giraffe this Auntie bought as a baby gift had to be wrangled and tied up.
Plus a few camping chairs, and some board games, we had a full car and an empty stomach, so we stopped at a random sushi place, Aloha Sushi, for lunch. I lucked out with a positive gluten free experience, and enjoyed the orange tree roll I ate, but overall thought the place was over priced.

After lunch we had a few more errands to run, but managed to have some fun in the party store. Mike had been singing "a wonderful day for pie" from an episode of Family Guy, and then, sitting on some boxes was Stewie's head-"Your anguish sustains me."
And all of that was before 2pm. Apparently you can get quite a bit done if you're willing to wake up super early.

Easter Egg Hunt for Kids with Allergies!

Join the Sacramento Food Allergy Meetup group for an Allergy Free Egg Hunt Saturday April 16 at 10:30 am at William Land Park at 13th Ave. and Riverside. Please RSVP by Friday, April 15 at 3 PM.

The park is located on 13th Avenue between Riverside and Land Park Drive. The Tiny Tot Time Preschool building and the Land Park Play pool are in this area. The hunt will be just west of the fenced in playground. Please call my cell if you have any trouble finding us: 916-425-3823.

Egg Hunt Begins at 11 am. Arrive at 10:30 a.m. if you are bringing eggs.

***NEW THIS YEAR*** If you are bringing a child to the egg hunt, please bring 25 plastic eggs stuffed with stickers or small plastic toys per child. Please don't spend more than about $5 on eggs and toys.

Absolutely NO FOOD and NO CANDY please. Remember to bring a basket for collecting eggs.
If you are unable to bring stuffed eggs, please consider a $5 donation to help offset the costs of the additional eggs being provided.

Arrive at 10:30 am and plan to play with your child(ren) in the playground for about 30 minutes. My teenagers and I will hide about 200-300 eggs before 10:30 am, and we will also hide the eggs that guests bring.

Note that many of the items in the eggs will be choking hazards due to size so if you have a younger child be sure to supervise them with these items.
