Join the North Bay Celiacs Team May 7

Sonoma County Human Race

We hope you enjoy the community services provided by North Bay Celiacs. This is an opportunity to express your appreciation and join in some fun. North Bay Celiacs will participate in the 2011 Sonoma County Human Race, a nonprofit community fundraiser organized by the Volunteer Center of Sonoma County.
Thanks to generous community donations in last year’s race, we have been able to continue our free community services: support groups in four North Bay counties; physician and dietitian education at local hospitals; gluten-free consultations to food purveyors; and maintaining a website that serves as an information center for the celiac and gluten-intolerance community in the greater Bay Area. We also provide support to Camp Celiac (www.celiaccamp.com).
North Bay Celiacs would love to count on your support in this year’s Human Race! The race, which will take place on May 7th, is our sole fundraiser and source of income. Our goal again this year is $3,000. It’s a modest goal for an organization serving this large geographical area, but North Bay Celiacs is run entirely by volunteers. Here's how to help:

Online:
Please specify "North Bay Celiacs" as the "Benefiting Nonprofit Agency" when you pay online by credit card, or else your donation may go to the general fund of the Volunteer Center instead of North Bay Celiacs. Any amount is welcome and it all helps a great deal!  We are a chapter of the Celiac Disease Foundation, a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization. All contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law. CDF's tax ID# is 95-4310830. Feel free to forward the link to family and friends. You can also join as a "Team Member" and do more fundraising with your own web page and link on the Human Race site.

WALK OR RUN ON MAY 7th
It's fun! We have a group walking in the Human Race (pretty slowly) behind our beautiful banner on a 3K walk through Howarth Park in eastern Santa Rosa. It's free to walk, and no registration is necessary. However, to run you must register and pay a fee.

You do have to get up early - we meet at our table at 7:15am, the runners start at 8am and the walkers follow the runners. Email me if you plan to join us and I'll make sure you know how to get there and where to meet. There is a great community spirit at the event – you should participate (at least once)! Children, strollers, and wheelchairs are very welcome.

VOLUNTEER
We need a few volunteers to staff our booth at the Human Race Marketplace. Every year our booth is packed with interested people for three hours straight, and it is seriously fun. We give out tons of food samples and educational materials. This is a great chance to meet people and share information about celiac disease.  Email Molly (see below) if you'd like to help staff the table for any amount of time from 7am-11am. We especially need people from 9am-11am. Please specify preferred shift.
We hope you'll join us in our efforts this spring! For your information, here are a couple links to the Human Race and the Volunteer Center: http://www.humanracenow.org/  and http://www.volunteernow.org/.

Sincerely,
