Mrs. Leepers Pasta Dissapoints

Once I found a pasta that worked for me, I stuck with it. However for the good of the blog, and my readers, I thought it would be a good idea to try something new. Their were lots of options for me at my local store, and in the end I settled on Mrs. Leepers rice veggie twists, and I was very disappointed. I ended up throwing the entire bag away, 1/2 at a time, all within twenty minutes. Mrs. Leepers also has a line of corn pasta, which I may try in the future.

I tried the pasta twice, half a bag per time. The first time I was waiting for the water to reboil, I turned around after 5 minutes- supposed to cook for 7-9 minutes, and it was already mush. Ok, maybe too much heat, I think to myself, so I tried again. I didn't let the water come to a full boil, kept at medium heat the entire time, and after 5 minutes, the pasta was definitely done and still together. I drained it, rinsed it with cold water, and started mixing it into a bowl with other ingredients and it started falling apart. My pasta quickly became a gooey mess. Needless to say, I won't be using this pasta again.

Hey Debbie - we tried the corn pasta, with pretty much the same results. We use DeBoles rice pasta (mainly because we can get it cheap at Walmart) and Tinkayada. We also use the Thai Kitchen rice noodles as spaghetti and really like that too.

I used this pasta when I first got serious about gluten free. It was just a bunch of mush like you said. I tried the corn at the time and same thing happened. (I can't have corn anymore)

I use Tinkayada which I love and have been very faithful to ever since.

I love Mrs Leepers pasta! I have been using the elbow pasta I get at bulk at our food co op in Portland, OR. You only cook it for 4 minutes and it is delicious. It is the closest gluten free pasta that I have had that tastes like the real thing. If you can find the elbows give them another try.

I LOVE the elbow macaroni! Just like anonymous said, you cook it for a very short time - I do mine 9 minutes - and it is perfect! It is my absolute favorite gluten free product. Everything else I've tried either doesn't cook all the way through or is mush like the others have said.

finally found a great pasta "substitute" with the corn pasta. Have cooked it a few times (since there is such inconsistency with gluten fee pasta) and continue to be thrilled.

I find that the cooking instructions are usually Wrong for G-free items. You have to cook to what you want it to be done. If I cook to the label instructions, most of the time it's GOOP! Test and judge for yourself. 25 min cooking times are more then likely 10 to 15. Taste and judge as you're cooking! it's not the product, it's YOU! LOL!
