Murad Skin Care Products

Just in case you're not happy with your current skin care products and are looking for a change I'd like to recommend Murad. I contact the same companies once a year or more, (if need be) to make sure their products are still gluten free. I love Murad's correcting moisturizer with SPF, and for such a small tube it lasts a long time. I just wanted to reconfirm with the company that it was still safe before I went out and bought a new tube.

The company rep from Murad stated "The chemists agree that none of our products are formulated with gluten. Additionally, to the best of their knowledge, gluten is not contained in the formulas as an "incidental" meaning gluten is not contained w/in a specific ingredients make-up at a nominal amount."

Just read the ingredients in the day and night moisturizers and they both contain oat.

I was just doing a search on Murad cuz I luv the brand and just realized it had oat kernel. It can't be gfree.... Sad!! For a company that is run by a "Dr" that's pretty poor customer service for a medical issue! :(

Oat kernal or oatmeal is gluten free unless their was cross contamination with a wheat crop.

Hi There,

I stumbled across your blog and thought it should be noted that your previous determination of Murad's products is not currently correct. As of visiting their site this morning, this is what is displayed:

"Though Murad has many gluten free skin care products, several of our products do contain gluten. According to prevailing scientific authority, as a general proposition, both people with Celiac Disease and those with gluten sensitivities can safely use topical skin care products that contain gluten. Professor Michael F. Picco, M.D., a board certified gastroenterologist affiliated with the Mayo Clinic summarizes current thinking on the subject as “gluten-containing skin care products and cosmetics are not a problem unless you accidentally swallow them.”

* If you are under a doctor’s care for Celiac Disease, gluten sensitivity or any other medical condition, your doctor is your best source for information regarding your condition and what’s best for you. As with all cosmetic products, we recommend that you try our products on a small patch of your inner-arm to confirm that you have no unique sensitivity to any of their ingredients."

People suffering from gluten issues should be fully aware of their options. Please make sure your information is updated and corrected so no one needlessly suffers from an issue. But also, anyone reading this should also have the where-with-all to research on your own and educate yourself. Although Murad says that gluten containing ski care products are deemed to be okay, I myself use only gluten free skin care products and my skin shows a very noticeable difference. If I use anything with gluten I suffer breakouts... And I'm in my early 40's. I hope this helps anyone reading.

Thank you for your reply. Please note that this post is 5 years old and I am now on a new site. Of course information may be out of date, but is left online as a starting point for people to read and research on their own.
