This winter I am truly making efforts to be a "soup" person. I thought I would use this Vegetarian Pho soup base to make a tasty Sunday dinner. I added fried tofu, rice noodles, and all the veggies, but both my husband and I could not get past the smell of the soup base- licorice. I've had Pho before and don't recall it smelling or tasting like black licorice. It just really threw us.
