Amazing Homemade Granola Bars

So I was working on my weekly meal planning, and my cookbook flipped open to this page for a granola bar recipe I had been wanting to make, but I try not to make anything where I have to buy all the ingredients; I like to try and use what I have in the house. Well it just so happened that I finally had all the ingredients for this recipe in the house! WooHoo!

The best part is that some friends came over right after I made them, and they decided to try them, and by the time they left, I had half a pan left. These bars, at least the way I made them this time, truly reminded all of us of the Quaker Oat Chewy Granola Bars, which are obviously not gluten free. All I can think of now is what else can I add to this recipe next time: marshmallows, and dried fruit are the first two things that come to mind.

1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 Tsp Vanilla
2 cups Gluten Free Granola (I used the old fashioned and apple cinnamon granola from Made to Crave)
1 cup nutty flax cereal (I used Enjoy Life's Nutty Flax)
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup chocolate chips (I used GF DF chocolate chips from Tropical Source)

1. In a medium saucepan combine butter, sugar, and honey.
2. Bring to boil and stir until sugar is melted.
3. Remove from heat, and add in vanilla.
4. Stir in granola, cereal, cinnamon, and salt.
5. Lastly stir in chocolate chips.
6. Press into an 9 X 9 ungreased square pan.
7. Allow to firm up in the refrigerator for about an hour, then cut into serving size pieces. (They make up perfect bars!)

I am not gluten-free, and I approve of these granola bars. They're just as tasty as the Quaker granola bars.
