Candied Pecans

I used to be in love with walnuts, but lately, I've been digging pecans. Pecans are a great source of "good" fat, they can lower your cholesterol, and even help maintain or lose weight. They make great pies, tortes, cookies...oh my. You know what else they make? A great homemade holiday gift! Candied or sugared pecans in a canning jar, add some ribbon, and you've got yourself a great personalized gift. I followed the recipe in the latest copy of Delight Magazine, which is a great gluten free resource, and they came out great! Delicious!

I have made suggared pecans for a awhile. This is a holiday party special. They are great savory too. Just melt butter and 1 teaspoon thyme together and coat the pecans (1 cup) put in the oven on a cookie sheet with parchment or foil and bake at 350 for 5 minutes, then toss and put them back in for 5 minutes more. This is also great on the top of casseroles.
