I can whip up a pretty mean peanut butter cookie from scratch but I was interested in trying out a new baking mix, so I picked up The Cravings Place Peanut Butter Cookie Mix to switch things up, and sadly I have to say I was disappointed. Now this mix has a lot of free's, including gluten free, wheat free, dairy free, egg free, and bean free. Perhaps it was because there were no eggs in this, but the batter tasted better than the finished product.
In the instructions it says to press the cookies down with a fork, which some recipes do, but I never follow that instruction because typically the dough gets soft and spreads from the heat of the oven. This dough stood its ground and did not budge, so I ended up flattening them with a fork. However, the cookies seemed dry, not sweet, and not really peanut buttery, so I did not even bother making all of them, and instead threw away half the dough. I'm open to giving this brand another chance, but right now I'm left sad without a fulfilling dessert.
