Wanna Gamble? Order Steve's Pizza

I was super excited the first time I had gluten free pizza delivered from Steve's Pizza. Now mind you, I didn't think it was the best gluten free pizza ever, but hey it was decent and deliverable. Then the other night a friend and I went to order some pizza and play the Wii and we were told they were under new management and have changed their prices.

We were quoted $32 for our medium gluten free veggie pizza, and that was supposedly the price after our $6 off coupon! Now a regular medium veggie costs somewhere around $18 so that means that the gluten free crust "upgrade" was at least $14. That's madness!

I did some investigating: I called the same location three different times and asked the price of a medium veggie pizza. I was told $17.49, $17.99, and $19.99. So it sounds like to me it's the luck of the draw what price you're going to be charged for a pizza. Then I called several Steve Pizzas in the greater Sacramento area and was again quoted different prices when I asked how much a gluten free crust "upgrade" cost. I was told $6, $8, and $11. I suppose this random pricing explains why they do not list pricing on their website.

Considering the fact that the pizza crust they are using is supplied by Still Riding Pizza, I can understand a slight increase in price on occasion because Steve's pizza needs to cover their costs, but I doubt Still Riding is not charging each Steve's Pizza location a different price, so I suggest to go straight to the source and order your own crusts directly from Still Riding.

Steve's Pizza has never provided me good customer service. I've had employees act surprised that they offered gluten free crust, employees not sure how much it costs, not calling to let us know they were out of gluten free crust after placing an order, and they don't really seem to be aware of the issue of cross contamination. And now that I know that I'm pretty much playing roulette when I call to order a pizza from them, I personally will be boycotting Steve's Pizza and I hope whether you're gluten free or not, others will too.
