Movie Review: An American Crime

I recently watched a movie entitled "An American Crime," which is about a girl who's tortured and eventually killed by a neighborhood family she was left with while her parents traveled with the circus. It takes place in the 1960's and I know times are different now, but this movie really pegged the dark and twisted issues that still exist within the family structure today. A single mother, with eight children, who has a thing for younger men, blames the neighborhood girl for her eldest daughters' unwanted pregnancy. So we've got unresponsbile parents leaving their kids with someone they barely know, a woman unable to financially take care of all her children, and a neighborhood of people who knew what was going on but didn't speak up. Hmmm. Sometimes I really think that the majority of people really should be required to take a class before they're allowed to have children, as only a small handful of people out there seem truly qualified to make great parents. I've recently seen a parent let their kid run right into the street infront of a car, had a kid throw a rock at my head and the parent didn't do anything, and have been run over by more than one massive stroller and looked at as if it were my fault. Anyhow that's my rant, now back to the movie....I strongly recommend it.
