This weekend I went to the kite festival in Berkeley; I had gone last year as well and had been a nice day in the bay, a cool 75 in comparison to Sacramento's 90 degree day, and this year it was really cool and overcast and breezy; maybe a high of 65. Despite the temperature and me desperately trying to stay warm, (who thought I'd need thermals in the middle of winter) I had a great time. I do not yet own a professional multi-line kite, but I would love to get a multi-liner from prism. The kite ballet as they call it, is great to watch. Teams of 2-8 people do kite stunts to music and some of that is quite impressive. One ballet was done by a father/son team, the son being only 7 years old and his skills were impressive!
The only downer about festivals is that I can't eat any of that greasy, great-smelling food from the vendors. I was smart though and had picked up some Qdoba to go. Qdoba is a newer celiac-friendly place on my list, and I guess they're new to California as well. I just happened to luck out and get one near my house. Chiptole had been and still is a nice option to have on the back burner, but hey, everyone likes options, so now I have Qdoba as well. Similar food, milder taste, more options on the menu, and comparable in price. Anyhow, I was asked by several people at the festival were I had gotten my great-looking and great-tasting food, so for once "normal" people were jealous of my great gluten free dining option.
