If you're looking for Authentic South Indian Food, and have dietary concerns, DOSA is the place to visit. They are named after a traditional Indian cuisine, the dosa, which is pretty much a crepe, but instead of being made from flour, and typical wheat flour at that, it's made from rice and lentils. They can be made to be sweet or savory, filled with everything from sweet cheeses, to spinach, onions, eggs, oh my!
Now not everything at Dosa's is gluten free. However, they are very aware of food allergies, and have allergy information about which products contain nuts, dairy, and wheat (see below). I know someone who is very much allergic to dairy and wheat; someone who seems to at least have a mild reaction almost every time she eats out, but at Dosa's she was fine. Not an itch, not a tummy ache. Nothing.
I certainly will be checking this place out next time I'm in the bay, how about you?

Have you confirmed that they are GF, not just WF?
Mylapore in Folsom serves rice flour dosa (plus wheat, but they're pretty clearly labeled) and they were helpful advising me what to order. I haven't gotten sick there.
