Shopping adventures with my best friend turned into a fabulous food finding day. We went to The Counter, which I had been to before, but I can now say that a bowl of cheese fries is a perfect afternoon snack. Moreover, the garlic aioli and the horseradish mayo sauces are perfect companions to the fries. In fact, next time I'm considering ordering all of their sauces, except the only one that is not gluten free (the soy ginger glaze) and try them all out with the french fries.
After the fries we were having a chocolate craving, so we headed to See's Candy inside the mall, since almost all of their products are gluten free. I ordered some scotchmallows, my absolute favorite: marshmallow and caramel.
Then we got lost in the mall, because we don't normal shop at the mall, and in the process of trying to follow the signs to find the restrooms, we stumbled upon a new fabulous gluten free snack place: Popcornopolis! For some reason I've been on a flavored popcorn kick, and this was the pinnacle point. All of their flavors are gluten free, and they are willing to sample any of their flavors, even if it's not currently out.
I fell in love with the sour cream and onion, but they were all tasty and intriguing, including the cinnamon toast, rocky road, white chocolate pumpkin spice, and strawberries and cream. And for a specialty item found in the mall it didn't seem overpriced. They offer the cones in 2 different sizes, and the small one is more than plenty for a movie, only costing $4.99 or $6.99, depending on the flavor. What excited me more is that I used to love the 3 flavored popcorn tins as a kid, but having gone gluten free those tins are no longer safe. Popcornopolis is the solution! The one in Roseville, CA is the only one in northern California, but they do ship if you're not near one of there lcoations. I highly suggest it as a nice snack alternative, or as a novelty gift item for someone who is gluten free.
